Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there! We had a nice weekned. Chris only had to work a little bit, which was a relief. He's been working many weekends and late nights, so the break was much needed.
Saturday we were feeling adventurous and felt like trying something new. We recalled the Alum Creek lake area where we took Kodos years ago. We went to about 5 different areas of the park before we found a good one. We took Kodos too, which was nice, b/c she often gets left out these days. We found a walking path that led to a teeny tiny beach area. Moira was soooo excited about the water. She kept going "Hi the wa was! Hi the wa was!" and waving to it. She did not want to leave and kept trying to walk further and further into it.

Sunday morning Chris surprised me by getting up super early and cleaning the whole house. Any mom knows, that's really the best mother's day present. Also, we decided that my gift would be a day of shopping next weekend. I desperatly need some new summer t-shirts and shorts. We decided to go to the zoo. It was super crowded, as you can imagine on a nice day and mother's day. We spent most of our time in the North America exhibit, b/c she liked the bears last time she was there. She also really liked the baby goats.

After that, she took a big 3 hour nap, and then we headed to a new castle looking park that I just learned about. It's nice and different. It reminds me of the West Side park in Portsmouth, that we used to go to growing up. She had fun there. I brought her monkey hat that she got from Davis's birthday part goody bag, and put it on her when she was on the swing. This is the first time she had ever kept a hat on! I tried to take it off and she did not like that. She started going "hat! hat! hat!" and asking for it back. Then we put the hat in the swing next to her, and I swung her and Chris swung the hat. She thought that was HILARIOUS. She was going "hat sings! hat sings!" Sings is how she says swings. We tried to let her hold the hat, but she did not like that. She wanted the hat to have it's own swing. We went out for dinner afterwards to Fazolis and she loved the meatballs and cheese. She goes Mmm... cheese peas... mmm... ball balls... She got a red and blue crayon was was trying to color on the table going "red! bu! red! bu!". I didn't even help her out with the colors, she got it on her own. After that, we started a fire in our fire pit for the first time. It got a little out of control, so chris had to dump water on it quickly. I think that pretty much sumarizes mother's day weekend!
